Legend Project

LEGEND (Leveraging Equality for Gender-Inclusive Economic Development) will build on the GAC-funded M-SAWA program, enhancing gender equality and environmental sustainability. Using a Lead Firm approach and MEDA's Gender Lens Investing (GLI) experience, LEGEND aims to improve economic prosperity for over 30,000 women and youth in Kenya. In partnership with Irrihub Ke the program will provide subsidies for drip irrigation kits, water tanks, and seedlings in Kisumu, Busia, Siaya, Migori, and Homabay counties.

Project Overview

LEGEND will support MEDA's commitment to Kenya's economic development by helping SMEs access technical, business, and financial services. This will strengthen agri-SMEs and benefit thousands of small entrepreneurs (SEs) with better access to resources. Focusing on women, especially young women, in rural Kenya, LEGEND will work in Lake Zone and South Coast to address barriers in horticulture, poultry, and fisheries in high-poverty areas.
